GENERAL REGULATIONS
1. ELIGIBILITY:
RESIDENCY
§
All competitors must be residents of the province/territory
they are representing and must adhere to provincial/territorial selection
criteria.
§
All competitors must be Canadian citizens, or have landed
immigrant status, at the time of their selection at the provincial/territorial
level for the Canada 55+ Games.
§
Non residents may be used to fill out a team under the
following circumstances:
1.
The non-resident must not “bump” or prevent a resident from
participating i.e. they will only be used to fill vacancies.
2.
The non-resident will be considered an official member of
the “new” province/territory for the duration of the games and must be provided
with a team “uniform” if other members of the team are provided with them
(either free or through purchase).
3.
The non-resident will march with the “new” team in a parade
(if any) and sit with the “new” team in the opening and closing ceremonies.
4.
The non-resident will be eligible to win medals in the same
manner as any other team member.
5.
The non-resident will register through the “new”
province/territory.
2. ELIGIBILITY: AGE CATEGORIES
·
Competitors must be at least 55 years of age (by December
31) in the year of the Canada 55+ Games.
·
Competitors are allowed to compete in one age category only.
·
Where there are discrepancies between:
i a competitor’s age at the time of
qualification and their age at the time of the Canada 55+ Games, the competitor
may have to compete in a younger age category;
ii the age categories utilized by a
province/territory and by the Canada 55+ Games, team competitors should compete
in the Canada 55+ Games age category that corresponds to the age of their youngest
member. Individual competitors may also
have to move to a younger category.
3. REGISTRATION
·
All competitors must complete, in full, the registration
form and submit with the required registration fees to the
Provincial/Territorial Team Manager by the agreed deadline.

All competitors must complete the C55+GA medical form and
keep this on their person throughout the Games. It is suggested that this form
be tucked in behind the participants name tag that they are provided with by
the Host Committee.
·
Competitors may not register or compete in more than one
competitive activity. They may,
however, register and compete in more than one event within an activity. For example, a competitor may register in
doubles and mixed doubles in the tennis event.
·
A competitor may register in a lower age category if the
province/territory has not filled the entry requirements in that category.
4. SUBSTITUTION
·
Substitutions will only be allowed prior to the time the
competitors leave their respective provinces/territories. The Host Committee must be informed of any
substitutions made between the time the original registration forms were
submitted and departure for the Games.
·
Extraordinary circumstances occurring during competition
involving inability to compete will be considered on an individual basis at the
Games by the Games Jury.
·
Fillers may be used
with the approval of the Directors to make for a viable competition and “fills”
will pay FULL registration fees and will
receive FULL privileges.
·
Replacements required
during the Games due to medical or any other unforeseen occurrence will
normally be found by the Host Committee (HC), unless the Prov/Terr affected is
able to fill the position from one of its own non-participants. If the
replacement is filled by the HC in the midst of the Games, then no registration
fee is to be levied against the individual filling in.
5. TRANSPORTATION TO HOST CITY
·
Transportation to the host city is the responsibility of the
individual or province/territory from which the competitors and non-competitors
are traveling.
6.
TEAM COLOURS
·
It is recommended that each province/territory outfit their
competitors and delegates in some form of provincial/territorial colours.
·
Each competitor must have the name of their province/territory
(not their local community, zone, or region) on their outfit and it should be
easily recognizable.
7. SMOKING POLICY
·
All indoor venues at the Canada 55+ Games events will be
smoke-free in the specific area of play.
